Voices of the Jazz Era Ballroom Contributor Agreement

• You understand that the participation of all those who own or create content uploaded to this site should be fully voluntary. This includes interviewers, people being interviewed, people who own uploaded photographs or documents and anyone whose likeness or voice appears in uploaded content. We will refer to these people collectively as participants. You affirm that you and all participants are aware of this, are mentally competent to make such decisions, and that any minor participating has the full consent of a parent or guardian who has read this agreement.

• The collection you are contributing to is intended to be a lasting archive. By accepting this agreement you and all participants give permission for Voices of the Jazz Era Ballroom to preserve and display digital copies of all your contributions in perpetuity, to make them available for public and scholarly viewing on the internet, and to take appropriate steps to preserve your uploaded content, including digital re-formatting and the transfer of your contributions to more stable platforms.

• You and all participants still own the copyright to your contributions. Your contributions will be displayed on the web via a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 Unported license. This means that nobody may sell or use your contributions for commercial purposes, and if anyone contacts us with a desire to do so, they will be directed to you via the e-mail address you have provided to obtain your permission. For this reason it is imperative you list a functioning e-mail address which is checked regularly.

• You and all participants agree to allow Voices of the Jazz Era Ballroom to make derivative works from the content you submit for web exhibition. This includes editing and cutting video, audio and visual material for inclusion in the Voices of the Jazz Era blog and articles, and for short web-based videos and images used to promote the project.

• You and all participants understand that your personal information, such as name and e-mail address are retained but will never be sold or used for commercial purposes. Your e-mail address will not be displayed publically on the website or elsewhere. We value your privacy and will use the strictest standards to preserve it.

• You and all participants understand that the names of participants will be publically associated with their contributions on the website. To maintain the integrity of the collection and ethical participation standards, nobody is able to contribute anonymously at this time.

• You understand that in order to upload content to the Voices of the Jazz Era Ballroom website you must either own the rights to all content uploaded, or obtain the permission of the rightful owner(s). You affirm that this is the case by assenting to this agreement.
